Thanksgiving Week

topic posted Mon, May 24, 2004 - 8:38 AM by  Bill
Never too soon to start planning. I'll be returning to Austin for the second time (last time was two years ago) in many years. Staying out by the lake, but any recommendations on how to pass the time (especially evenings . . . but be specific on bands or clubs, not just Sixth Street) would be welcome. My bro-in-law will probably score tix for Fridays game destroying A&M.

from what I understand, the Austin bar scene is not quite what it use to be. I was just back down there, and a lot has indeed changed.

Might be increacingly difficult to get aggy tix. Seems that they are becoming "frantastic". May actually be a close game.

Hi Bill, here are my tips. I was born and raised in Austin, and just recently landed in Oakland.

    Look for shows here:

Avoid 6th street at all costs. Aggies and Horns and families will be in full force. Your best bets are the Continental Club, Saxon Pub, or Hill's Cafe (a venue now) for the music goods. Have a great time! I would love to be at that game!
